The Saskatoon Labour Market Committee

The Saskatoon Labour Market Committee is an association of employers, industry and business organizations, education, training and employment preparation institutions, government agencies, and community, aboriginal and immigrant serving organizations that meet regularly to discuss:

• The Saskatoon and area labour market in general
• How the SLMC is in a position to assist local businesses in a tight labour market
• The recruitment, hiring and retention needs, challenges and strategies of employers
• Employer best practices relating to recruitment, hiring and retention
• The development of partnerships to respond to labour market needs
• The promotion of a comprehensive approach to career services that is responsive to and supports the needs of both job seekers and the labour market
• Employee preparation standards and possible training opportunities
• Initiation and support of new approaches to preparing a skilled and representative work force
• How to address the economic and social development needs of the community
• Working toward fostering greater economic growth through labour market development
